Hi there, I’m Anton, a Dutch national, living happily in Colmenar Viejo in Spain with my wife and two teenager kids and our two dogs, Spikey & Coco.

I started programming in dBase 3+ way back when, as a project during my university years. At that time this amazing tool called Clipper case to my attention, with this tool you could actually compile your dBase 3+ code into an executable! Happy days.
This of course lead me having to learn the programming language behind Clipper which was luckily an extension of the dBase language, but much more powerful. Supported by a huge online community and lots of external libraries, we even started with classes and objects.
With the rise of Delphi, I moved away from Clipper and into the world of Object Pascal.
And of course, like any programmer, along the road I had to start with HTML, Javascript, PHP, ASP, CSS, etc.

A new job forced me into the realm of Excel, of which I was able to successfully shy from for years. However when a colleague showed me how to make dynamic graphs, my interest was raised and I started looking into the possibilities of using Excel, and of course VBA, to help make daily life at the office easier and more fun. And once I combined Excel and working with databases like Sybase, Oracle, MySql and MS Sql Server, I really became enthusiastic.

All of this brought me into the area of Business intelligence, with my passion for data, data management and data visualizations and all the tools used for this. I especially love Tableau (www.tableau.com) and Power BI (www.powerbi.com)

I believe most programmers are lazy typers, just like me. So in order of saving time typing, over the years and having to use different tools, I have collected a lot of code snippets. Some more lengthy than others, but all I use in my daily life at work to Copy & Paste repetitive pieces of code, thus saving time.

I can only assume that out of laziness and not wanting to spend time, I simply collected these code snippets in Outlook Notes. After an outlook migration to a new M365 tenant, I found I was missing a lot of these notes, sio now finally I decided to spend some time to figure out how WordPress works and to start a blog to organize, rewrite and store all my code snippets and stop this dependency of outlook.

So there I am, having written this ‘About Me’ piece, now I have to start to figure out the nicest way to document and store my snippets. I am doing this mainly for myself, however if you come across something you might like to use, of course you are free to do so. And even more, if you find something that can be improved, please let me know.
As the quest for knowledge and improvement should be never ending.
